March 13th, 2011
Joshua Topolsky, editor of Engadget, has just announced that leaving the popular website is owned by AOL Tech News.
Topolsky Engadget has been in almost four years and has been managing editor since 2008. According to Kara Swisher at All Things D, Nilay Patel is also an editor on the way out.
These departures are only two days after AOL announced the dismissal of 900 employees – including 200 members of the editorial staff – as part of its restructuring and reorganization processes following the acquisition of The Huffington Post.
According to Swisher, Topolsky decision was not related to The Huffington Post agrees – in fact – Arianna Huffington has tried to convince Topolsky to stay. However, it seems that some of the same problems, so that the output of the associate editors, Paul Miller and Ross Miller in February – in particular the issues in the "AOL Way" and the editorial direction of the parent company of Engadget – - may have driven the recent departures.
In a blog post announcing his departure, saying Topolsky will not "let the game industry or news" and has a "fantasy couple of projects in mind." Topolsky writes also that will continue in a role as managing editor and will host a couple of episodes of Engadget Show.
Historical – AOL has been very non-intervention in its relations with them as Engadget. If this policy has changed (which remains unclear) can be more flights.
